 Watch an Overstressed Man's Children
« Thread Started on Oct 14, 2006, 6:46pm »

Don Ogilvy is exhausted. He's been working long hours at the office under a manager who absolutely despises him, and who refuses to give him a raise or a promotion. He desperately needs a day of relaxation. He'd like to have a chance to catch up with some of his friends, but between work and the children, he can't get away.

Mr. Ogilvy would like you to watch after his children. His daughter Tracy is quite normal, but his son Eric is hyperactive and refuses to follow instructions.

Reward: $500
Risks: Eric has a history of running away for a few days at a time.
Notes: If Eric does run away again, Mr. Ogilvy will involve the police, so this should only be attempted by those with a clean criminal record.

A balding man in his late 30's or early 40's answers the door. His remaining hair is haggard and disheveled, and his eyes are ringed by dark circles. He looks like he's been beaten with a stick, and one could guess by his demeanor, that he felt like it too.

"Can I help you?" he asks in a groggy voice. The sound of a screaming boy rings out from some room behind him.

"I came because I heard you needed someone to watch your children for a little while so you could go away and get some rest." I say in a friendly, trusty voice.

"Oh! Thank god you're here!" says Mr. Ogilvy as he invites you in. The boy's yelling is cut short by a thud. "Don't worry," says the father, "he probably just ran into the wall. I should be back by midnight or so, and I'll pay you when you leave."

"OK, great. Oh, and are there any allergies or anything I should know about your children?"

"Well," begins Mr. Ogilvy, making a distressed face, "Eric's a little hyperactive. Just keep him occupied. Don't let him out of the house. If he does something bad, just call one of the numbers on the fridge."

EGG

Mr. Ogilvy then shuts the door, and after a few minutes, emerges in a Hawiian shirt, carrying his car keys. He shoots Deitrich a friendly smile as he drives off. There is another loud thud from inside the house, and a little girl starts crying.

I go find the boy to make sure he's in a position where he won't run off really quickly.

As you search for the child, you hear several thumps and footsteps throughout the house, but you cannot seem to locate him.

You supervise Tracy for about thirty minutes while she colors in her coloring book. There is a frightening silence for a few minutes, but then Eric's crazed thumping returns. You continue to entertain Tracy for another fifteen minutes, when there is suddenly the sound of smashing glass.
